Support the sales and marketing

The VR application was part of a package to support the sales and marketing departments. It included key and representative product models that could easily be presented to potential customers in an interesting and engaging way. In some cases, it was possible for them to download the app and explore it themselves.

The VR experience makes it possible to show an interesting aspect of the company during trade events or fairs and makes the client spend more time at the company’s stand. This is crucial in the context of generating leads.

Challenge

The new invitation for customers

The problem faced by the client was the need to take complex industrial sealing systems to meetings with customers. These are usually heavy boxes equipped with additional elements and containing one sealing inside.

Transporting several or more boxes to a meeting with an interested customer or to an industry fair is a big challenge. Therefore, the client needed a VR experience to present the appearance and functionality of the seals in a slightly different way.

Process and project scope

Scope

We have designed an entire room for the proper and attractive display of the products. Users can roam around the room freely, being able to easily preview all the products. There are multiple ways of interacting with items: rotating, launching animation, or learning technical details. In the background, we hear pleasant music.

To maximize the VR experience, we put some of the more complex models in the second room. There, the user can see what operations are performed when assembling a particular sealing model (welding). It is worth drawing attention to the fact that the modern design of the application corresponds with its image.

Process

The client received the VR experience app in two versions:

  • a simplified version adapted to VR standalone devices (Google Cardboard
  • the full version dedicated to HTC Vive, where we had full freedom of movement and controllers were used to manipulate the seals

We worked in weekly sprints, sending the client successive versions of the VR experience app on Thursdays. On Fridays, we received comments or suggestions for further work, and then we planned another sprint with specific tasks.

Collaboration

Communication with the customer was very good. We had extensive documentation of the products that were to appear in the VR experience simulation. There were more of them than in the case of the mobile AR application and they had additional animations showing how to connect seals or install them.

Service

The presentation of products in virtual reality was one of several projects that we carried out for this client. In this case, it was about creating a VR experience that reflects the character of the brand, as well as its modernity and precision.

Technology stack

The application was created in Unity 3D.

Models and other animations were made in 3ds Max and Maya.
